Science Diplomacy in the European Union
In this seminal piece of work, Moedas as then-residing EU Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation propounds his understanding of Science Diplomacy and its role for the future of the European Union in an increasingly competitive and complex world order. The paper exposes a strong focus on the multi-polarity of the current world order, the rise of emerging economies and the associated intricacies in foreign affairs and the power of science and innovation to offer opposition to these critical trends. Furthermore, the article shows the authors affectation with the concept and its promises.
