The “IIASA 50th Anniversary Science Diplomacy Event: the Need for International Scientific Cooperation and Multilateralism” took place on 14 June 2022 in Vienna, Austria. This event brought together members of the research community, experts, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations to discuss how international scientific cooperation helps to build stronger relations between countries and how it contributes to sustainable and prosperous future of all. Based on discussions held during the event, a “Vienna Statement on Science Diplomacy” was developed and signed by several participants.
