EU Science Diplomacy Alliance at the 4th International Conference on Science Advice to Governments (INGSA2021)
Date/Time
Date(s) – 30/08/2021 – 02/09/2021
INGSA2021 takes place from August 30 to September 2, 2021 under the title “Build Back Wiser: Knowledge, Policy and Publics in Dialogue”. The conference takes place in a hybrid and virtual format at Palais des congrès de Montréal, Québec, Canada. It brings together more than 1,500 political representatives, diplomats and government science advisors to promote scientific expertise and the use of scientific knowledge in informing policy decisions in an increasingly complex world. INGSA2021 examines the complex interactions between scientists, public policy and diplomatic relations at local, national and international levels, including in times of crisis, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. It is an opportunity to continue discussions on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the role of cities and municipalities in the appropriation and implementation of evidence and research, the importance of open science and access to data, and finally, the relationship of trust between decision-makers, scientists and the general public.Angela Schinder-Daniels (current chair of the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance) and Elke Dall (founding chair of the Alliance) jointly present the initiative in a session on Day 2 of the conference (August 31).
