Alliance Members Publish Article on Science Diplomacy Amid Conflict
Two members of our Alliance, Luk Van Langenhove and Eric Piaget, have co-authored an important open-source article titled "Leveraging Science Diplomacy in Times of Conflict," published on July 19, 2024. The paper delves into the critical impact of war and conflict on scientific endeavors, highlighting how scientific protectionism—such as restricting international collaborations and open science—can stifle innovation and global problem-solving.
The authors emphasize the need to maintain international scientific cooperation and dialogue, even in times of geopolitical tension. They argue that science diplomacy plays a crucial role in bridging divides and fostering global collaboration for the common good.
