Roundtable: Science Diplomacy as a Tool for Tackling Cultural Property Illicit Trafficking

 

The Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, Centro INAH Estado de México and the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne are organizing the roundtable "Science diplomacy: as a tool for tackling cultural property illicit trafficking". It will be held online this Thursday, May 25th and Friday, May 26th, from 9 am to 11 am Mexico City Time / 5 pm to 7 pm CET and it will be broadcast live on the Facebook page

 

OBJECTIVES

To foster greater understanding about the links and possibilities of interaction between Science Diplomacy and scientific research, in relation to the illicit trafficking of cultural goods, by providing a variety of perspectives.

To diagnose the current situation regarding cultural heritage illicit trafficking and to identify gaps and scientific or political opportunities, while generating a space for dialogue that allows to elaborate on further efforts and challenges in order to address the illicit trafficking of cultural property in a comprehensive way at a national, regional and international level.

To promote a discussion that goes from the theoretical framework to the assessment of the feasibility of concrete actions, starting a series of exchanges with government actors, scientific, technical and academic experts, as well as civil society and private sector stakeholders.
